GNU grep checks the 11mb DEBINX very fast, busybox grep is very slow.  The below script will give a comparison.  And at the speed of GNU grep, I am not sure it is worth further trimming down DEBINX any...

Jessie ISO booting with grub1

I had tried 'dd bs=4M if=dCoreJessie.iso of=/dev/sdc3' before editing menu.lst of grub partition,So how can I possibly boot from ISO using grub(not 2nd one)??

Ok. Is it sufficient to replace the two distribution files? I read the notes for the RC, I'm assuming I would need to reload all the onboot extensions from the 7.x repos.I hope my own extensions still...

Yes, you just need to replace corepure64.gz and vmlinuz64 to update to tc-7.xFor the extensions you could either create a new extensions folder or update in your current folder

Yes, the kernel has no XZ support. You need to enable it in the kernel for squashfs to be able to use it.
